For me, once you go over about 28-30 volume setting, it doesn't seem to really get any louder. In other words, maxed at 38 doesn't really sound much different than 28 or 29, except perhaps a bit more distorted. The presence of the button (switch) means he has Switchable Active Exhaust. In most systems in most Jaguars, if a check box or a light does not stay on and is switched off by the car, this indicates a fault in said system. Have the faults codes read out and post back the information.
